Hi guys! Happy Wednesday. How has your week been so far? Mine has been super busy at work - and home life has finally settled down a bit again too.
As promised in my 2019 post - I want to do more kids related posts on the blog too. Today will be the first post. Reading in our home is a big deal. I have tons of kids book and I add to them regularly. We make a point that no matter what to read a book every night. Alex was one of the Top 10 Readers in his Grade last year and as an educator myself, I can't stress the importance of reading. I prefer to keep these books in my little (although it's not so little anymore Library short and sweet stories - so I know it won't take us more than 10 minutes to read.) He does, however, have his own bookcase with books he can read anytime he feels like reading.
One of my favourite book deals to be on the lookout for - is the Exclusive Books 5 for R200 deal they have from time to time. February and March is another special month and I felt this is the perfect time to share the latest books I got from them and a mini review on each book.
Also - as I mentioned - I want to give away a little freebie with these types of posts - and today I will be adding a link to download my 100MostUsedAfrikaans words flashcards. I'm a big believer in flashcards too - every week I do Alex's weekly spell words on flashcards for him so we can practice them every night - and it really works. So at the end of the post, there will be a link to download it. I will be having some worksheets as well as more flashcards available for monthly download now too - so if you are interested to keep a lookout for my parenting/kiddy review posts every month.

This is a cute two for one book that contains two stories about a little girl called Georgia. In the first part, Georgia just got her first swimming badge - and today is her first day in the big grown-up pool as we follow how her day went.
In the Moving day- the bonus story in the book - we follow Georgia around as it's moving day for the family - and Georgia has to pack up to leave the old flat behind (which she is super sad about) but when she discovers the new house has stairs - she is beyond thrilled.
Hooray for Knickers by Jill Lewis and Deborah Allwright
King Grouchy is desperate to impress Prince Jolly, so he invited him for a swim at the royal pool.
But when the servants don't quite hear the King's orders, the preparations turn into a royal MUDDLE of goats, boats, bears, pears, sparkly stickers, and Frilly Knockers. Oh dear ... whatever will Prince Jolly think ??
Ellie's Magic Wellies by Amy Sparks and Nick East
Ellie Pengelly is fed up and bored - until she gets a pair of very special wellies.
But when she jumps into a puddle .... a strange creature jumps out!
This is a fun and sweet rhyming story about friendship that fizzes and whizzes with fun.
Shouty Arthur at the Seaside by Angie Morgan
If your child loves adventures they will love reading about Arthur and Edith's seaside adventure. Follow them around as they look for yummy ice-cream .... try to build the best sandcastle around, be a pirate, find crabs and explore the rock pools all why little Arthur has to try and remember not to be too loud or shouty ... but when they get stuck when the tide comes in - Arthur's shouty voice saves the day.
Treats for a T-Rex by Adam & Charlotte Guillain & Lee Wildish
A little boy George and his dog Trixie pack some treats and head off on an adventure when George is convinced there is a T-rex out there somewhere that is still alive.
They find a close by the island to explore - but what is the shadow that looms overhead ??
Have they perhaps tracked down a real dinosaur or dinosaurs ??
