Pink & Purple Dots

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday, and I am officially back to blogging; this time, I am bringing more book reviews into the mix.  I was sent the Worldbreaker's Name by C.L. Farley to review for The Crow's Copy as part of an ARC read.  C.L. Farley is an awesome South African author and st oryteller who favors speculative fiction and neurodiverse narratives. Her work received a Silver Honorable Mention in Young Writers of the Future (3rd quarter 2022) and an Honorable Mention in Young Writers of the Future (4th quarter 2022). In her spare time, she gardens, collects rocks, plays video games badly, and referees the four cats that adopted her.  (This made me love her writing even more because anyone who has cats is automatically a winner in my books!) (Info from her publisher's website !)    Blurb:  Kellan, a warrior turned scholar, is desperate to cure the magical infection sealed in his leg before it consumes him. Cursed healer, Chiyana, is set to escape her p...

Hi guys! Happy Thursday.  How has your week been so far? Alex is home this week (his school switches them between one week at school and one-week homeschooling ) so I'm working and teaching him from home which does get pretty interesting. Thank goodness he is such a smart kid. As I mentioned here many times before- Alex does read every night before bedtime - this is a strong rule we stick to every night. He loves reading and he often walks around with a fact book or Encyclopedia in his hand reading everyone facts about volcanoes, dinosaurs or the human body. I love that  Kids Book Club  sends us a cute book, an activity something and a cute bag, bookmark and a little figurine every month.  So more about the service again if you missed it last time : We picked the two-book Hedgehog Heroes (11-13 years) package - this month we received a book, the MiniMag kid's magazine, the monthly activity booklet, bookmark and cute figurine. The activity book this month included col...

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday. How are you guys doing ?? I'm still surviving school holiday thrown into the homeschool work from home and office and actually going to school for Alex. It's confusing to try and get into a routine but I'm sure that we will figure it out once school starts again.  Today I'm sharing our July Winter Kids Book club books with you.  As I mentioned here many times before- Alex does read every night before bedtime - this is a strong rule we stick to every night. He loves reading and he often walks around with a fact book or Encyclopedia in his hand reading everyone facts about volcanoes, dinosaurs or the human body. I love that  Kids Book Club  send us a cute book, an activity something and a cute bag every month. July's theme is Winter with a super cute winter-inspired bag super cute too. These bags are awesome if you go shopping to throw in your bag and let the kids help out packing groceries. I love how colourful the bags got as wel...

Hi guys! Happy Friday! How has your week been? Are you ready for the super duper cold weekend in Johannesburg ?? Last month I saw an awesome new subscription service pop up in my Instagram sponsored posts called Kids Book Club  and I decided to check it out. They have a great selection of packages available for most age groups too. As I mentioned in a previous post - Alex reads a book every night before bedtime. (He reads more though - he has to read a bedtime story to me every night ) I love picking up a few new ones often for a before bedtime read. I decided this subscription would be an awesome add on for us to give a try and see how we like it. We picked the single book Fox Favourites (5-10years) package and the theme for our June box was "Cozy". Our package included the starter pack, a cute book and two activity packs (the Cozy one that is the theme for the month as well as our starter pack one - which will come in handy this school holiday ). The starter pack...
