Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Birthday Suit

Hi guys ! Happy Monday . How was your weekend ?

A little while back I picked up tons of new nail polishes to try and review on the blog - and since my mom is searching for the best wear time nail polish - I was excited to pick this baby up to give a try . Clicks had a special on the combo pack - R189 for the colour polish and top coat - and since they usually retail for around R120 each , I decided to give this kit a try . They don't have such a huge range of colours in the combo kits - mine had a hot pink , a red and this gorgeous nude colour - and of course being me I had to try the nude out. And nude colours are perfect for me for work / going out as I feel it's neutral and you can never go wrong with a good neutral.

It's recommended you wear the polish without a base coat - I always wear a base coat but decided I wanted to try it out as is for the wear test . On clean dry nails you apply two coats of the colour (The colour wasn't quite opaque with just two coats - so I used a third) and then apply the top coat. Word of advice - Give the polish a few minutes before applying the top coat as the top coat is quite thick - and you have to apply a little pressure to get a thin even coat - I didn't do this the first time and slapped it on like I normally do Seche Vite - and it resulted in some bubbles and little cracks  in my polish.

The polish really wears exceptionally well. I wore this gorgeous colour for about a good 6 days before I got any chipping. I was pretty impressed with how the formula held up . I am pretty rough on my nails and wash my hands a billion times a day - so for me that's pretty impressive.

The only downside for me personally except the top coat was removal. This really takes a little bit of work to remove. A good acetone based remover is recommended and a good 15minutes free. For me that's a little bit of a meh - but not enough to stop wearing this polish .

The colour Birthday Suit is everything I love in a nude polish . The colour is so me and I really love these types of nudes.

So onto the swatches :

Have you tried any of the polishes in the range ? Was your weekend a fun one ?

Essence All About Matte Oil Free Make-Up

Hi guys ! Happy Friday . Hope you had a great week. Who else are excited for the weekend ? I know I am.

A little while back Essence sent me an amazing little PR package including this gorgeous foundation - the same day I decided to get myself a shade lighter at Dischem too. (Which was a good call - as the shade I was sent will be perfect for summer - but it's a tad too dark for winter.)

I love this foundation - the formula is lightweight but it does cover imperfections without being heavy or cakey. Application is great with a brush or beauty blender or make-up sponge - both give a smooth finish. I prefer this foundation WITHOUT primer - and even though my skin is not as oily as it always was and it being winter which makes my skin super dehydrated -  doesn't dry out my skin at all or cause breakouts.

So does it keep me matt ? Yes it does. As I mentioned in a few foundation posts - I apply my make-up pretty early in the morning - and after a full day of work my foundation still lasts - which for such an affordable foundation is pretty awesome. And that's without any touch ups. (Because let's be real - some days you are crazy busy and there's no time for touching up with powder . )

I do set the foundation with a powder - but after that I'm set for the day . The foundation can be build up for more coverage - but I feel one layer gives amazing coverage. The foundation doesn't leave you with a flat matte look - which is what I prefer. I still want to look alive .

The two shades I currently have :
Essence Matt Cameo (sent as PR sample)
Essence Matt Vanilla ( bought by myself )

I'm also including a photo of me with the foundation on - as you can see it doesn't leave you super matte - but gives great coverage and lasts all day.

Again , this foundation is perfect if you are looking for a great foundation - even if you are not on a budget.

The All About Matte Foundation retails for R69,95 at Clicks and Dischem stores.

Do you have any fun weekend plans ?

*Some of the products in this post was sent as PR samples and will be marked as such *

Lush Vanillary Solid Perfume

Hi guys ! Happy Monday. Did everyone have a great weekend ??

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen my little Lush haul a while back. I'm a huge fan of Lush products - and with good reason . The smell amazing - and make you feel like a million dollars.

I saw another local blogger Green Lydia mention this as one of her travel favourites and rushes to my computer to order this online from Lush (I really wish there was a Lush closer to me ... But for now I'm more than happy with shopping online ) and knew I needed it. It was just my luck as this scent was finally back in stock ( I wanted to try it a few weeks earlier ) and ordered it .

As I have mentioned quite a few times here on the blog - I'm extremely sensitive so scents. I am one of those weird people that will break out in hives or get extremely itchy skin if I can't tolerate the smell . I know I love Vanilla scents - from coffee to candles I knew the chances of actually being okay with this perfume was pretty high. And I was just in luck - this scent doesn't irritate me at all.

Now I know, a solid perfume isn't for everyone. It basically looks like a lip balm. I love how it's actually travel friendly and the balm warms up on contact with your skin. A little really goes a long way - and I find it lasts quite a while on me (about a good 5/6 hours before the scent fades ) . The scent isn't too overpowering either . And the best part is you can throw it in your bag and touch up during the day easily too. I love this as a everyday scent and a date night scent.

The Vanillary scent also comes in a 10ml and a 30ml perfume too - which is great if you are not a fan of this solid perfume. I find this easy to use - so for now I will be sticking to solid perfumes.

From the Lush website :
A sweet, yet sophisticated vanilla fragrance. We blended Fair Trade vanilla absolute with tonka and added a hint of jasmine for a reassuring, powdered caramel perfume. Vanillary settles on the skin for a long lasting warmth that is difficult to resist. Layer with Vanilla Dee-Lite lotion and Vanilla Puff dusting powder for the ultimate sweet treat.
Notes: vanilla, tonka, jasmine

The Solid Perfume retails for R120 from Lush stores or online. I might even try the Dirty scent or the Sun scent in Solid form next.

What is YOUR favourite daytime and date night scent ?? Have you tried a Lush solid perfume yet ?

Essence All That Greys Nail Polish Collection

Hi guys ! Happy Monday. Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was pretty chill for a change.

Today I'm sharing swatches of the new Limited Edition Essence All That Greys nail polish collection. I recently found the fully stocked collection at my Clicks - and since I decided to try them all and share them here on the blog - because let's be real - I love grey nail polish . And let's be real - grey nail polish is like nude nail polish - always in style.  This collection is currently available at all Clicks and Dis-Chem stores and retail for R39,95 each.

This collection consists of 5 nail polishes - all of them gorgeous and all perfect for winter.

Essence 04 Girl With A Pearl
So if you been reading my blog for a while you know what a fan I am of nude nail polishes- and this one is no exception. This polish formula is flawless and perfect and is a gorgeous cool toned nude polish - I can see this becoming a favourite of mine.  I used two coats in the swatch below.

Essence 03 Greyt Times
Again , formula is flawless on this polish. This is such a gorgeous light grey colour. Essence really knows how to make amazing limited edition polishes - They always seem to be mindblowingly amazing.  In the swatch below I used 2 coats of polish,

Essence 02 Step Into The Grey Zone
Okay so of the five colours, this is my least favourite. I found the formula a little bit streakier than the other colours . It's still a gorgeous deeper grey colour. Perfect for winter. I used two coats in the swatch below.

Essence 05 Roaring Red
Okay so I have to admit - I found this colour a surprising choice for a Grey inspired collection - but this colour blew me away. Essence knows how to make AMAZING matt polishes. This colour is so gorgeous and even though I don't like red nail polishes - this is vampy and gorgeous enough and I can totally see myself wearing this one a lot. I used two coats in the swatch below.

Essence 01 Back To Black
This is another gorgeous matt nail polish. From all the promo photos I knew I would love this one - and it didn't disappoint. The colour is a gorgeous matt black , and the formula of this polish is perfection in a bottle. I used one coat in the swatch below.

Overall this is an AMAZING collection of polishes. My Top 3 picks are Back To Black , Roaring Red and Girl With A Pearl.

As I mentioned earlier , this collection is currently in stores - But as always with the Essence limited edition goodies- If you like something you need to buy it ASAP.

How was your weekend ? And how is your Monday going so far ? What colour would you get from this collection ?
