Dermaceutic - C25 Cream

Hi guys . Hope you are all having a great week so far. Only 8 more days until Christmas... Yeah !

Today I am sharing my review on the Dermaceutic C25 Cream. As you know, I reviewed the Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Cleanser HERE . Today I am sharing my thoughts on the second product I tried in the range. Again, as much as I LOVE make-up ... I am a firm believer you need a great skincare routine to always look your best.

The C25 Cream contains 25% stabilised s Vitamin C to protect collagen fibres while maintaining skin’s optimum moisture level. Vitamin A helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines along with Vitamins B5 and E to hydrate the skin and reduce water loss. This is a light cream that absorbs super fast into the skin too.

The last few weeks I have started noticing little fine line around my eyes, it bugged me because my foundation  would always settle in those lines and drive me insane. And while I would like to age gracefully ... Lets be real...  you don't want to *LOOK* older than you really are.. do you ?... Shudders.

I have been using the C25 Cream for just over a month now, and I have noticed those pesky lines is disappearing (Yeah!). This is also a serum / eye-cream and day cream all in one, making it a great time saver too - and I love multi purpose products , as a busy mom this saves me time . This cream works wonders at night too - it's not just suited for daytime. ( I would really recommend if you get this for fine lines or radiance you use it twice a day for a week or two ) .

I love that this has a pump bottle too, as I hate digging with my fingers into pots of creams... This makes it more hygienic too.

Half Moon Mani with Nails Inc & Tutorial

Hi guys ! Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was busy with Christmas preparations.

Today I'm sharing another fun Festive party look with your guys . This is a subtle fun half moon mani. This is another SUPER easy look to re-create . Again... As with my previous party look.. I have included a tutorial.

So onto the nails -

For this look you'll need 2 nail polishes ( here I picked a metallic & a glitter polish ) & some french manicure strips . The two polishes I chose was Nails Inc Kings Road & Nails Inc Marylebone . Both are amazing polishes with great formula's. But as always , you can use different colours or even completely different colours for this.

So onto the tutorial -
1. Paint your nails the first metallic colour
2. Use the french manicure strip and place near your cuticle.
3. Use glitter polish for the bottom part , peel the sticker off and top coat.

How was YOUR weekend ??

Revlon Pebbled Texture - Moroccan Oasis & Tahitian CoastMoroccan

Hi guys. Hope you are well. It's FRIDAY... and raining in JHB ... Yeah..  And Christmas is getting closer too... my favourite time of year.

So today I'm sharing to GORGEOUS glittery polishes from Revlon Pebbled Texture collection.  I got two of the 8 shades to show you. These are perfect for the Festive season , and holiday parties ... Or just chilling next to the beach with. These are PACKED with glitters, and are fully opaque in 2 coats.

First up ... Moroccan Oasis ..

And Tahitian Coast..

As I mentioned, since this is a VERY dense glitter polishes , they do have a texture. Revlon also sells a Matte top coat , that works perfectly with these polishes... That way they stay matte and your polish stays on better too.

Removal .. As with any dense glitter polish.. Takes a little bit of work. I would recommend you use the foil method to remove these polishes.

These retail for R99,95 at leading pharmacies and most retailers .

Which of these two are YOUR favourite ??? Any fun plans for the weekend ??

Lapelle Issue 7

See what is in the latest issue of Lapelle Magazine, there are also many prizes to be won.

One of the articles in the magazine is this one

UNDER MY SKIN
10 EVERYDAY THINGS THAT ARE BAD FOR YOUR SKIN

1. Sleeping with make-up on
Apart from the chemicals and potential allergens in some make-up brands, not washing it off before bed
has devastating effects, such as clogging pores, disrupting natural repair and shedding (renewal), and
drying out skin, leading to accelerated breakdown of collagen and elastin and even oxidative stress.
Trust us: wash your face, every night.

2. Drinking – and eating – too little water
Without water, skin dehydrates, gets damaged and ages quickly. Every cell in your body needs water to
metabolise normally, which is why the eight glasses a day rule is one to live by. But there also seems to
be some eating more water-rich foods purported better water absorption.

3. Squeezing pimples
Trying to pop a pimple can do more harm than good: you could push dirt and bacteria deeper into the
pores, and you may inflame and damage the subcutaneous follicle and skin tissue leading to more
inflammation, bleeding and even scarring. Often, this only leads to more breakouts.

4. Skipping meals – the wrong way
Whether you’re just too busy or trying to lose weight, note that experts say skipping meals messes with
your metabolism. There is some evidence suggesting controlled restrictive eating on alternate days
holds overall health benefits. But note that your skin needs those
essential nutrients and vitamins from food, so skip with caution.

5. Your phone and dirty sunglasses
Anything that comes in contact with your face can leave dangerous bacteria and environmental
pollutants behind. And of course you hold your phone right on your cheek, and your glasses rest on the
delicate spots just under your eyes and on the bridge of your nose. So, please, carry some antibacterial
wipes and keep these items clean.

6. Hair products on your skin
It’s no secret that products such as dye and hair spray contain dangerous chemicals. That’s why you
shouldn’t ingest them. But the alcohols and lacquers in hair products, including skin penetrators such as
propylene glycol, may dry out your skin and wreak havoc over time. Cover the skin on your face and
neck with a clean towel when you apply or spray.

7. Excessive chlorine
Mind the pool water: chlorine tends to react with the water in your body to form damaging acids (free
radicals), even when absorbed through skin – hence the dry, patchy skin after loads of swimming. Have
a soapy shower after your swim and follow up with your antioxidant-rich moisturiser every time.

8. Over-plucking your eyebrows
Naturally, ripping a hair out of the follicle damages the skin a little. But it’s the repeated pinching and
pulling on such delicate skin that could harm collagen and elastin fibres. For proper
brow plucking, do it after a warm bath or shower, hold the surrounding
skin tight with your fingers and gently pull (don’t pluck) in the direction the hair naturally grows.

9. Passive smoking
Yes, even if you don’t smoke, those smoking around you are contributing to your skin ageing. Cigarette
smoke is known for causing poor blood-flow in skin, as well as stimulating the production of MMP
enzymes that destroy elastin and collagen.

10. Dirty make-up brushes
These are a breeding ground for bacteria. They collect dead skin cells, oils, dirt and old make-up residue,
and then you reapply it to your face every day. Try to brush yours after each use on a damp cloth and let
it dry properly before storing. Then, wash them with a product for this purpose or anti-bacterial solution
at least twice a month.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Cleanser

Hi guys. Hope you are having a great week. I seriously can't believe it's Christmas in a few weeks... Yeah ! Next week I will share some gift guide ideas with you guys too, and some more nail tutorials.

So onto my review for today - The Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Cleanser. I'm am a huge fan of skincare, because, without great skincare, you don't have a great base for make-up. And in the end of the day I like my skin to look great WITHOUT any make-up too. In the end of the day, you want your skin to always cared for to age gracefully .. And this is MAGIC unicorn tears in a bottle.

This is a foam cleanser & exfoliator in one. This works fantastic to refine the texture of your skin - This seriously makes my pores look smaller and my skin texture so smooth - I even had to stop myself to keep feeling my skin .

It's also pretty user friendly... 2 pumps (or one but I prefer 2 ) morning and evening... I rub the foam into my face, and rise off. And voila... Gorgeous skin .

I've been using this cleanser (along with the Dermaceutic C25 Cream ) and the combination worked fantastic on my skin - and I will be reviewing the C25 cream next week here too.

Have you tried anything from Dermaceutic ?

RENOKIN HAIR RANGE FOR LUXURIOUS HAIR

Hair is an extension of skin and there exists many similarities between the management of hair and the management of skin. It is for this reason that Lamelle
Research Laboratories has introduced a product range that encourages hair growth, stops hair loss and stimulates the skins ability to create new hair follicles.
On average, people shed 50 to 100 hairs per day and an average scalp has about 100 000 hairs. Gradual thinning is a normal process of ageing however, hair loss may lead to baldness when the rate of shedding exceeds the rate of re-growth, when new hair is thinner than the hair shed or when hair is shed in patches.
The Renokin Hair Revitalizing program contains three biomimetic peptides which inhibit hair loss, prevents stress induced hair cell death as well as activate the signal for hair growth. In addition, Renokin Hair Revitalizing program contains two vitamins which provides nutrition and enables increased blood flow to the scalp resulting on the formation of healthy hair. Lastly, Renokin Hair Revitalizing program contains five natural plant extracts which aid in preventing hair loss as well as strengthening the hair follicles, thereby providing a comprehensive hair revitalizing program.
The Renokin Hair Revitalizing program consists of:
    •       Renokin Hair Revitalizing Shampoo 150 ml
    •       Renokin Hair Revitalizing Conditioner 110 ml
    •       Hair Revitalizing Solution 60 ml
The benefits of Renokin Hair Revitalizing program
    •       Can be used in both men and women.
    •       Clinically proven active ingredients.
    •       Applicable to any type of hair loss.
    •       Innovative skin penetration technology of active ingredients into the scalp.
    •       Can be applied to coloured hair.
    •      Can be used as maintenance for healthy hair. New follicle development takes time to occur.
    •       To be used for 3 months before visible results are evident.
Using the Renokin treatment program
    •       Wet hair thoroughly, gently lather shampoo throughout hair and scalp – massaging scalp for 15 seconds.
    •       Leave on the hair for 30 seconds and then rinse out.
    •       After shampooing, apply conditioner to wet hair and massage gently.
    •       Apply the Renokin Revitalizing Solution.

Summer Skin & Fashion Tips with Dermalogica

Hi guys. Hope you are having a great week so far.  Happy Wednesday !

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to a very informative Dermalogica SummerSkin&Fashion event at Rosebank Mall, where Sonette Donker & Gert Johan Coetzee shared some great suncare & fashion tips with us - and today I will be sharing some of those tips with you guys, along with MY favourite Dermalogica Suncare products.

As you know I am a big fan of sun protection - no one wants to look older in the long run than they really are. And yes , you still need sun protection - even in winter !

Some interesting Sun Fun Facts :

  • Sunburn cooks the proteins in your skin , collagen and elastin. This is similar to putting your arm on a frying pan !
  • A person's risk of melanoma doubles if he or she has five or more sunburns in their life
  • We need 10 - 15 min a day of sunlight which will allow us with the sufficient Vitamin D production - older people need a bit more .
  • UV exposure can cause dehydration.
Some Smart Skin Tips to help prevent Skin Cancer :
  • The best way to prevent skin cancer & sun damage is to protect your skin from direct sun. UV radiation can go through clothes / windows & clouds. Use big floppy sun hats, lots of sunscreen & sunnies to protect yourself.
  • Stay out of midday sun (from mid morning to late afternoon )
  • Moms , always make sure your kiddies wears sunscreen. I can't stress this enough as a mom.

Some Summer trend tips from the ever stylish Gert Johan Coetzee -

  1. Tropical prints
  2. Beach Cover Ups
  3. All white Swimwear
  4. Floral Maxi skirts
  5. Nude shoes / nails - just make sure it's one shade darker than your skintone !
  6. Metallic Highlights
  7. Frills & Feminine

My personal favourite Dermalogica Sunscreens -
1.Dermalogica  Protection Sport SPF 50
This is a new Sunscreen from Dermalogica that launched October 2014 . I only had this about a week, but I love using this on Alex and myself , as it's a Face & Body sunscreen - making this ideal for people always on the go.
2.Dermalogica Super Sensitive Shied SPF 30
This is another favourite of mine. When I use a normal day cream without sun protection , I always make sure I use this sunscreen. It doesn't clog pores, and it doesn't make you shiny like most sunscreens tend to do.
3.Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50
This moisturiser is PERFECT for South African summers ! This leaves your skin with a soft matte finish while keeping it hydrated. And a SPF50 ! That's the biggest bonus !
4.Dermalogica Ultra Sensitive Tint
Again , this is another sunscreen perfect for sensitive skin. This also works fantastically as a moisturiser and sunscreen in one, especially for days that you tend to be in a hurry - or go for minimal make-up.

Do you use sunscreen daily ?
