{REVIEW} Dear Deer Silk Pillowcases and Scrunchies

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday! How has your week been so far ?? I'm starting to really look forward to my December break ... chilling by the pool and working on a tan  ... Aaah a girl can only dream hey?

On the topic of dreaming - I recently invested in some new satin pillowcases from Dear Deer. My previous ones were getting a little old and I felt like something new. And of course, I wanted to throw in some of their hair scrunchies to try too - because if I don't tie my hair up at night I will wake up with a tangly mess that honestly I don't have time or energy to deal with it. I really prefer silk pillowcases - I originally got it to prevent my hair from frizzing - but silk pillowcases have so many benefits from helping all those expensive skincare goodies we use not get absorbed into it and help minimize wrinkles and puffiness.

So let's get into the nitty-gritty - why is it beneficial to sleep on Satin Pillowcases :

  • Being a polyester material, satin doesn’t absorb moisture the way natural fibres like cotton do. As we all know, one of the many reasons our skin can look tired, dry and lined is due to lack of hydration. Sleeping on satin minimises facial lines, wrinkles and puffiness.
  • Another plus? Satin won’t absorb your expensive night creams.
  • Sleeping on satin not only has great beauty benefits, but satin is also hypoallergenic and come recommended by plastic surgeons after cosmetic surgery. Doctors also suggest sleeping on satin for cancer patients during chemotherapy and radiotherapy, due to their skin becoming very sensitive.
  • Dear Deer pillow slips help your hair maintain its natural moisture and this helps prevent dry frizziness, split ends and breakage.
  • They also keep your hair looking shiny and help your blowouts last longer.

Some more benefits include :

  • maintains natural moisture balance in your hair & skin.
  • Prevents hair loss, split ends & damage.
  • Helps your blowouts last longer.
  • Prevents dry, frizzy & dull hair.
  • Keeps hair shiny.
  • Gentler on eyelashes, extensions & braids.
  • Minimizes facial wrinkles & puffiness.
  • Won’t absorb face creams and serums.
  • Soothing on the skin after facial treatments or procedures.
  • Anti-aging.
  • Hypoallergenic.
  • Recommended by doctors for chemo patients.
  • Great for preventing knotty “bed head” for babies & kids.

Alex even decided to move over to the silk pillowcases after discovering one afternoon after falling asleep on my bed that it didn't mess up his hair that it doesn't make his hair stand up after sleeping - something that drove him crazy - so he now insists to have his own pillowcase at all times. I also stocked up for all the guest bedrooms in the house too - because these pillowcases are just THAT amazing!

For the same reason I picked up a pair of scrunchies too - my hair tangles super easily - so I tie it up every night. The silk scrunchie is super comfortable and doesn't tug or pull on my hair - always a bonus! And they are perfect for my weekend walks if it is windy - no one likes all their hair in their face non-stop.

They are expanding their range into more funky pillowcases as well as eye masks (which I'm looking into getting next !)as well as towelling dresses and kimono gowns.

Have you tried anything from their range yet ??

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer Review and Wear Test

Hi guys. Happy Monday. How was your weekend ?? Today I will be sharing my review on the Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer . I have worn this quite a few times since buying the product - so I have a pretty good idea how it preforms. The colour I got was a typical Lynette colour - The Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer in Donut Worry be Happy. This is such a gorgeous fun pink colour. The range does have quite a few colour options - and what I do like about the range is that no top coat is needed. So while I always top coat polish or gel polishes - I didn't when I tested this out. Since I did mention I have worn it quite a few times - I always wore it without top coat. The polish dries amazingly fast - and is dry enough to not make dent marks on it within 20 minutes. Which I think is pretty impressive for a polish without top coat. The brush is on the thicker side - making the polish super easy to apply. I prefer nailpolish brushes like this since it's mostly just one swipe on each ...

CATRICE TREATMENTS SERUM REVIEW

Hi guys! Happy Wednesday. How was your week? I totally lost a day with the public holidays and Easter Weekend threw into the mix ... I was pretty convinced today was actually Tuesday. As I mentioned in my New on my Beauty Desk post in February - I got a few Catrice serums from their new range to try out. In total I picked up the Hydro serum as well - so today I will give you a rundown on the three serums I chose from the range to my routine.  Overall - I have a pretty good idea of which ones I love - which ones are good and which ones I'm not 100% sold on.  CATRICE HYDRO PLUMPING SERUM  This serum contains 1.5 %  hyaluronic acid and panthenol to plumps up the skin as well as have a soothing effect on the skin. Hyaluronic acid is well known to hydrate the skin and absorbs easily into the skin super quickly. I love using Hyaluronic Acid in the morning before applying make-up as it gives me a hydrated base to work with. Honestly, while I did enjoy using this serum - I d...
